Gilgamesh can find two maces in the Tower of Druaga, one of them being useful to defeat Druaga.

Sapphire Mace
(サファイアメイス)
Floor 42 Has no purpose in most versions. In the "Another Tower" mode from the NES and Game Boy versions it is required to obtain the Ruby Mace.
Ruby Mace
(ルビーメイス)
Floor 57 The Ruby Mace is obtained from defeating Succubus and Lizard Man. With this item, Gil can defeat a dragon in Floor 59 with a single hit.
PCERubyMace

In the PC Engine version, only the Ruby Mace is present. The Ruby Mace is found on Floor 58, while the Blue Crystal Rod is with Succubus in Floor 57. Both the Ruby Mace and Blue Crystal Rod are required to defeat Druaga.

Wood Opal Mace, Fire Opal Mace, Marine Opal Mace, Snow Opal Mace, Emerald Mace, Ruby Mace, Sapphire Mace, and Diamond Mace are Jewel Cards used by enemies.

Blue Crystal Rod and Ruby Mace in Namco Museum Vol. 3

The Ruby Mace appears alonside the Blue Crystal Rod in the secret The Tower of Druaga game room. When interacted with, an image of Ishtar appears and the two objects ly over Druaga, releasing a blue and red light that paralyze him, allowing Gil to finish Druaga.
